IslamApp: Prayer Times & Athan

What is IslamApp?

IslamApp is a free Android application designed to help Muslims keep track of daily worship obligations. It combines prayer‑time calculations, athan notifications, a Qibla compass, Quran reading, and an Islamic calendar into a single, ad‑free package.

Main Features

• Accurate prayer times – Uses location‑based calculations and, when available, local mosque schedules to determine the five daily prayer times.
• Athan reminders – Configurable alerts for each prayer, with the option to select a preferred sound or use the device’s default notification tone.
• Qibla compass – Shows the direction toward the Kaaba, with a visual indicator and alerts if the compass accuracy drops.
• Holy Quran – Provides the full text of the Quran, selectable reciters, translations and brief tafsir notes for deeper understanding.
• Islamic calendar – Displays the Hijri date, major Islamic holidays and special days.
• Ramadan fasting schedule – Lists Suhoor and Iftar times for each day of the month.
• Home‑screen widgets – Small widgets that show the next prayer time and remaining minutes directly on the device’s home screen.

How It Works

When the app is first opened, it asks for permission to access the device’s location. This information is used to calculate prayer times based on the user’s geographic coordinates. If the user prefers, they can manually select a nearby mosque to import its timetable.

Notifications are scheduled automatically for each prayer. Users can enable or disable individual alerts, adjust the lead‑time before a prayer starts, and choose a custom sound from the device’s media library.

Practical Uses

• Quickly check the next prayer time without leaving the home screen.
• Receive a gentle athan reminder even when the phone is on silent.
• Find the Qibla direction while traveling or in unfamiliar locations.
• Read or listen to the Quran during spare moments, with translations that aid comprehension.
• Plan Ramadan meals using the built‑in fasting schedule.

Installation Information

The app is available through the standard Android package (APK) and can be installed from reputable app stores. It requires Android version support as defined by the developer; users should ensure their device meets the minimum system requirements listed in the store description.

Things to Know Before Installing

• The app operates without ads, providing an uninterrupted experience.
• Location access is optional but improves prayer‑time accuracy.
• All data, including Quran text and prayer calculations, are stored locally; no internet connection is needed after the initial setup.

Who May Find It Useful?

Muslims who want a reliable, all‑in‑one tool for daily worship, travelers needing a portable Qibla finder, and anyone looking for an ad‑free Islamic reference on their Android device will benefit from IslamApp.
